Sarah Essen-Gordon is the former police captain of Gotham City and the wife of James Gordon and the stepmother of Barbara Gordon and James Gordon Jr. She is voiced by Lisa Edelstein.
History[]
In her younger years Sarah Essen was the police captain of Gotham City but eventually retired. She became a stay at home mom and raised Barbara Gordon and James Gordon Jr. When James Gordon was arrested (by corrupt cops that wanted him out of the way) Essen went to visit him in prison. James Gordon then told Sarah to watch after their children. After James Gordon was released she was seen beside her husband. Joe Chill attempted to assassinate Gordon but Batman stopped him. James Gordon then got Sarah to safety.

- In Batman: Guardian of Gotham, James Gordon did not cheat on his wife, Barbara, with Essen. In this version they got together after Barbara died.
