Blackgate Penitentiary was a prison in Gotham City where the non-insane criminals were sent.
History[]
After James Gordon was arrested he was sent to Blackgate Penitentiary. While there he was spotted by Victor Zsasz who Gordon arrested and was sentenced to life in prison. Zsasz tried to kill Gordon while in Blackgate. However, Gordon was able to hold his own. Blackgate guards then rushed in and subdued Zsasz. Later, Gotdon's name was cleared he was set free. After Deadshot was defeated by Batman he was placed in Blackgate. While there Deadshot was visited by Amanda Waller. Waller then aksed him to join the Suicide Squad in exchange for a shorter prison sentence which he accepted. Deadshot was then moved from Blackgate Penitentiary to a prison in Louisiana called Belle Reve.
